Randomness at the Bass'

We got to go home and visit with Daniel's brother Jon and his wife for a few days over Easter break. Jon just returned from serving with the Marine Corps for 7 months overseas. We are so thankful he is back safe and sound. We also did a few more egg hunts while we were home and of course some baking!

My First Egg Hunt

A friend of mine at church decided to invite like 50 kids to her house for an Easter egg hunt. Madison was very excited about her new bucketfrom Target. She kind of got the idea of picking up the eggs but she did not pick up many because she insisted on stopping after everyone and eating what was inside!

Staff Beach Retreat

Our sweet staff team decided to head down to the beach and do our end of the year celebration time early on in April so Daniel, Madi and I could be a part. It warmed up enough one day to run through the water and Madi loved it. I was glad because for the longest time she has not been a huge fan of the beach. She still, however, continues to be a huge fan of her friend Brennan - check out the hand holding. We actually caught them sneaking kisses the other day behind the curtain in our kitchen!

Ocean Isle

Madi and I got to spend my last weekend traveling at the beach with 50 other girl students from NC State. She had a great time and had plenty of attention. The girls even took her in the freezing cold swimming pool!

more from Wilmington

We found this cool little nook on our way off the dock that had this painted fire hydrant and big palm tree. Madison thought it was so funny to sneak around the tree and come find us!

Boats in the Wa Wa

Not really sure why but Madison really likes boats and always wants to ride on them - she never has before - but she always talks about it. We went down to one of the docks in Wilmington to walk around and look at them. She had so much fun and kept saying "be careful" because I was so worried she would fall into the water and would not let her go anywhere without holding one of our hands.

Learning from Aunt Jac

It's a good thing my sister-in-law is stylish and fashionable and into "girly" things since I am terrible at all of those. We went to Wilmington this weekend to hang out with my bri=other and his wife and Madison learned all kinds of new things. She loved sitting at the vanity and putting on "chapi" and blush. I don't think she has ever really seen me put on makeup before. She also loved Jac's killer 3 inch heels - she was far more coordinated walking in them than I would be!

Happy 30th!

Can you believe Daniel turned 30 last week? He is still so shapely and strong - thanks to P90X - you would never know it! We celebated at the Cheesecake Factory with Daniel's parents. He was very excited about his surprise GPS system we got him for his gift. I think in his heart of hearts he would have preferred a wood tool but he graciously accepted it and has already used it a bunch! I know he is excited about it. We'll continue to try for a good family photo where we are all looking in the same direction and smiling but these two will have to do!

Ma and Bennan

These 2 kids are affectionately known to the rest of the world as Madison and Brennan but to each other they are "Ma" and "Bennan". I was so proud of them last week becuase they played together for the first time really well. usually they just get really excited to see one another but then could care less that the other one is there. Of course Madison was her usual bossy self at times and sweet-spirited Brennan just gave her anything that she took out of his hand without a fight at all!

Fun at Grandma's House

While Daniel and I slipped away to a wedding Madison got to sepnd some time with her Grandma and Papa. I can't believe she kept a hair barrette in for more than one minute - although I heard she pulled it out not too long after that!
