Our Vacation Suprise

NO - we are not pregnant again - in case from the title your mind started wondering! But you know how I mentioned how relaxing our vacation was - well, the second day we ran into our college friends Tom and Evan out on the beach. Of course, since Madison thinks all 18-22 year olds are her best friends she thought they had showed up only to play with her! They brought a tent too which was lots of fun for her. Thanks Tom and Evan for our break!!!

Mini Vacation Again

We stayed at my brother's house that they are about to sell so there were not tons of kid-friendly things to do there so we had to get pretty creative. Madison's favorite activity was looking through their wedding album (over and over!

Mini Vacation

Well, I am sitting at home recovering from my 3rd flu-like virus of the year - it is crazy how much sickness a second kid adds around your house! At least it gives me some time to update the blog and Madi gets extra cuddly when she is sick so I always love that!

Anyways, last weekend we drove to Wilmington and spent 2 days at Carolina Beach for a little mini-vacation with our family. It was suprisingly very relaxing - not that I thought it was going to be stressful I just did not envision being able to sit in my beach chair and close my eyes for a few minutes at a time. Madi is at the perfect beach age because she is so creative and loves using her imagination so she can play for hours in the sand and entertain herself. And Ash (like her cousins Aleyna and Lexi)loves to eat the sand so she also can entertain herself for quite a long time! When she got fussy we just put her down for a nap out there in her car seat or in our arms and she would go right to sleep. We ate out a lot which is always a treat for us and enjoyed lots of snacks on the beach. The only thing missing from our vacation was sleeping in - haha!

Madison has had a lot of fun with her multi functional Easter egg basket...apparently it also works as a "hulmit" as she says!

I wish all of you could meet Avry. She is one of Madi's best friends (that's not a college student). She has as much personaltiy as Madi and is not scared of anything. She is so brave and dives right into everything - climbing things, touching things - it does not matter. These pics were too cute not to post - I know CLaire will enjoy them!

Farm Day

NC State hosted a Farm Day on Wednesday for FREE! The whole morning Madison kept telling me that she was excited becuase she could stand by the cows and Avry could stand by the horses - not sure why but it made sense to her. It was a beautiful day and we got to see lots of animals. We went with our good friends Claire and Avry and had a great time. They even had ice cream for everyone from the NC State cows - yummy!

Who Knew?

I had no idea Madi could do this until Daniel videoed the other night. My concern is that this was not the first time she had tried it which means she has probably been practicing during nap time. I was pretty impressed. I like that Scout does his flip first and then she goes. I guess the song he is singing about jumping inspired her!

The Boy We Never Had

I usually tell people that Madi is the boy we have not yet had but recently I am starting to wonder. She is a huge fan of dresses right now - especially lightweight, summer ones that she can twirl in. She also loves wearing her "heel highs" (not sure shy she reverses the name of them but she does)and recently tried her hand (get it?)at fake nails. My dad gave her some Easter nails and she loved putting them on. Wonder what all this will mean for the future?

Like Baby Like Sister

I guess its normal that Madi wants to do everything Ashlyn does or take everything Ashlyn has and so on and so on. It's amazing how sweet Madi can be to her and then how quickly she can turn. Last night we worked on learning 1 Corinthians 13 "love is not rude and love is not selfish, love is kind". She knows the verse now and can tell it to me - now she just needs to figure out how to apply it - dont' we all?
