Sister Shoot
So we attempted to take some pictures of the girls yesterday since they both looked really cute in their church outfits. As usual though Madi kept her head down most of the time and did everything but smile and look up at us and Ashi cried through most of it - here's what we have to show for our time!
This One's for Jac
Cry Baby
Whenever Ashlyn got fussy in the car during our long drive we just told Madison to get her out her seat and rock her for a while - it really helped us make good time. Just kidding of course!! However, every time "Ashi" did cry Madison would immediately say "Mommy Ashi's crying (like we did not know), can you get her dabi (her word for paci)?"

Second Stop
Two wednesdays ago we headed west to spend six weeks in Colorado taking seminary classes. It was actually a pretty good drive because we had to stop and feed Ashlyn every three hours and Daniel had to get another soda and bag of cheese combos! We had the chance to go up and see one of Daniel's best friends from growing up who lives in Missouri. While Daniel and Eric went biking and fly fishing, Ali and I took the girls to this really cool park that had water fountains and swings - two of Madi's favorite things! I am not sure who the boy is in the picture but he seemed to like being close to Madison. The other little girl in the swings is Eric and Ali's little girl Glory.

Uncle Shawn's Wedding
Shawn is not a real uncle but he is someone we love dearly. Daniel met Shawn his freshman year at NC State and spent the next four years loving him, praying for him and challenging him spiritually. In a lot of ways it felt like Shawn was one of our own children and it has been so fun to watch him grow up. We were privileged to be a part of he and Molly's special day. Everything was beautiful! Madi was a flower girl and Daniel was a grromsmen. The other flower girl was only 16 months old and so cute. She and Madi actually both made it down the aisle after wht seemed like an eternity - Madi stopped twice to see some kids who were in one of the rows and then once to wave her jellybean in the air! Glad Sahwn and Molly were flexible! MAdi then proceeded to spend the next 2 hours dancing on the stage at the reception - I am not kidding - this kid likes to move!
Boone and the Bass'
Daniel's oldest brother and his family are home from Central Asia for a short time in the states and they invited us to come up for a few days to the mountain house they are staying in. It was so much fun to see Madison playing with her four cousins. It is the first time she has met them where she actully knew who they were and what they were. She kept saying the whole drive up ther "we going to see my cusins" and now almost every time we pack fr a trip she thinks we are going to see them! Daniel loved all the trails they got to hike down. Actually I think he mostly like it because he got to wear his marine corps boots he got from his youngest brother Jon. I had told him it was ridiculous to pack such hardcore boots because we would be hiking with six kids so it would not be anything too difficult. However, it had rained for like a week straight so everything was really muddy and much moredifficult than I had expected so Daniel of course was excited about hiking in such conditions and proving me wrong!!!!
More of Ashi
Madison loves to tell people about her sister. Today at the pool I overheard her talking to these two 10-year old girls who had just seen me get Ashlyn out of her carrier that that was her sister and her name was "Ashi." It's funny to think Madison can carry on a real conversation now. These again are pics of her first two days. One of them shows the blanket Madi "bought" Ashlyn (thanks GiGi) so she could have a blankie like her big sister!
Oops - Wrong Order

Sorry these are out of date now but here a few of the day Ashlyn was born and the day after. It's interesting having a second child becuase the connection has been a bit slower than I had expected. God has definitely given us a great affection and love for Ashlyn but it has taken a little longer than the first time around. No one really told us about this - but now after talking with several mom friends I am finding out they are normal emotions. It has been fun trying to discover her personality and dream of what the days will be like when her and Madi can play together!
Increasing Ashlyn's Photo Count
A few years ago my mom and I decided to organize all of our family photos. Me, being the oldest child and first grandchild had like 3 huge ziploc bags worth of pitures. My sweet little brother - second child and 3rd grandchild had like 2 small ones. It was rather sad and I swore I would never be that parent but I am realizing that I am. It's just hard to take good pictures when you have a 2 year old who wants to use the camera every time they see it! Here are a few pictures we actually have of her without madi around. The first two are of Daniel's grandpa and grandma - how special that they have gotten to hold and play with all 8 of their great grandchildren!
