Almost every time Madi and I would finish up her preschool lessons last year she would say "Mom, when am I going to go to real school?" and I would calmly tell her "this is real school (leaving out the fact that she prob learned more with me this past year than she will this whole year combined :))...it was really fun teaching her and watching her strong willed, first born, perfectionist personality play itself out as she learned new things...for example, if she could not do something right the first or second time (like writing the number 5) then she would tear up the sheet of paper and say something like "I'll never learn how to do this, how come you know how to do 5's?"...sometimes we could work through it, other days we would end our lesson there for the day...so after a lot of thought and prayer, Daniel and I decided to send Madi 2 days a week to "real school"...I know it's not the best for her academically cause she can pick things up pretty quick and retain them, but it's great for her socially and I am hoping she continues to gain a greater respect for authority...so here she is on her first day - she kept asking me if she was going to ride the bus to school but I had to break the news to her that I not only had to take her but also walk her in everyday (she is really into me dropping her off places and leaving these days)...she picked out her current favorite dress and had her "homework" (a poster she had to color about herself) rolled up in the side of her bookbag...we celebrated the day by eating at Chick-fil-a that morning as a family (esp since they were giving away free breakfast all week:))...my mom always had a special breakfast ready for us before our big days at school and I thought it would be a fun tradition for our family to start too...one of her really good friends Brennan is also in her class which is a real highlight for her!
